Browser extension
The Freeboard extension brings your dashboard to the pages where money moves. It talks only to the dashboard you connect and saves nothing without your OK.
Which browsers does it work in?
Chrome, Edge and Brave on the computer, from the Chrome Web Store, and Safari on the Mac, from the Mac App Store.
How do I install it?
- Chrome, Edge, Brave: find Freeboard in the Chrome Web Store and add it to your browser. In Edge, allow extensions from other stores when it asks. Pin it to the toolbar to keep it at hand.
- Safari on the Mac: install the Freeboard for Safari app from the Mac App Store: the extension is inside it. Then open Safari Settings › Extensions, turn on Freeboard and allow it on the sites you use.
How do I connect it to my dashboard?
- After installing, the extension opens its Options by itself. Later you find them under Options in the extension’s window.
- Type the address of your Freeboard dashboard, the one you open in the browser. To try it without a dashboard, use the public demo:
https://freeboard.money/demo. - Choose Connect. Your dashboard’s sign-in page opens: the extension uses OAuth 2.1 with PKCE, so it never sees your password.
- Log in with your dashboard’s username and password and choose Allow. In Safari the sign-in happens in a tab that closes by itself.
What does it do?
- The morning window: cash today, end of month, safe to spend, runway and the bank transactions to assign, each with a suggested item. The icon shows how many are waiting, refreshed every 30 minutes.
- Stay budget on Booking.com and Airbnb: the price of the dates you choose, split by nights across the months and compared with your accommodation budget, with “within budget” or “+X € over” in the results.
- Spending where you pay (optional): your safe-to-spend on the checkout pages of every site, with the item suggested from your history. It asks for permission on all sites only when you turn it on.
- Sales from eBay, Vinted and Subito: title, price, description and photos from the listing.
- Amazon refunds from the returns and orders pages.
- The right-click menu on a selected amount: Record expense, Incoming refund, Check stay budget, Add this page to Sales.
What does it read, and where does it send it?
It reads pages only on the sites it works with: Booking.com, Airbnb, eBay, Vinted, Subito and Amazon. If you turn on the optional checkout feature, it also reads the cart total on checkout pages. It doesn’t read passwords, form fields, messages or your browsing history.
What it reads stays in your browser until you confirm. It talks only to the dashboard you connected, over HTTPS: no tracking, no advertising, nothing sent to us, the developers, or to third parties.
Can it change my numbers without asking?
No. Nothing is saved to your dashboard until you confirm it in the extension’s window, and every change can be reversed with Undo last change.
How do I disconnect it?
In the extension’s Options, choose Disconnect: the sign-in is revoked on your dashboard too. You can also do it from the dashboard: Settings › AI assistants, then Disconnect next to the extension.
How do I delete its data?
In the browser: the connection, your preferences, the bookings you recorded and the Amazon order numbers already recorded stay in the extension’s own storage. Uninstalling the extension deletes them: in Chrome open chrome://extensions and choose Remove (edge://extensions in Edge, brave://extensions in Brave); in Safari delete the Freeboard for Safari app from the Applications folder. Disconnect first, so the sign-in is revoked on the dashboard as well.
In your dashboard: what you confirmed (expenses, sales, refunds) is ordinary dashboard data. Change or delete each one where it is, for example a refund in Sales, or delete everything with Settings › Delete all data, which can’t be undone. To keep a copy first, use Export data in the account menu.
It says the sign-in has expired, or it can’t find my dashboard
If the sign-in has expired, open the Options and choose Connect again. If it finds no compatible dashboard at the address, open your dashboard in the browser and copy its address from the address bar: a subfolder works too. Still stuck? Write to us at the address above.
Privacy
The extension privacy notice explains what it reads, where it sends it, what it keeps and why it needs each permission. How Freeboard handles the data of your dashboard, the waiting list and this site is in the privacy notice; the rules of the service are in the terms of use.
