Freeboard in short

  • What you can spend today

An estimate from the income you count on, the expenses you expect and the money you want to protect, over the next twelve months.

  • The months ahead

Every income and expense month by month, so a tax advance or a quiet month shows up before it arrives.

  • Money from many places

Clients, platforms and subscribers, in several currencies, read from your bank or entered by hand.

Follow Alex for a month.

An invented digital nomad with a small SaaS, Upwork clients and affiliate links, living between Lisbon and Chiang Mai, paying with Revolut and Wise. Everything below is the real app with Alex’s example data.

All totals are in euros: dollars and baht are converted at the European Central Bank reference rate, refreshed twice a day. It’s an estimate of their value, not the rate your bank applied.

  • Solid: counts in full
  • Half dashed: counts half
  • Dashed: uncertain
  • Hollow: one-off

How much can I spend today?

Before coffee, one number: what Alex can spend today without dropping below zero at any point in the next twelve months, counting only the income that is certain.

Next to it, the whole month as a map of lines. Subscribers, Upwork and affiliates run into the accounts, and one line leaves for each kind of spending. A solid line is money you can count on; half-dashed counts half.

Does passive income cover my life?

Some income keeps coming while you sleep. Freeboard keeps it apart from the work you bill, and tells you how much of your spending it already covers: for Alex, 85% of the expenses expected in the next three months.

Passive sources are always mint and teal; work you do is sky and blue. You can read where the money comes from before reading the name.

Business on a phone: passive income 2,110 € a month covers 85% of expenses; Upwork 0 € a month.

When does the platform money arrive?

Upwork pays when it pays, in dollars, to Wise. Freeboard recognises the payout among the transactions, converts it, and forecasts the coming months from the last three.

Know a big project is coming? Write what you expect month by month; empty months stay automatic.

Upwork forecast on a phone: twelve months with expected amounts, the current month showing what is still to come.

Where did it all go, in three currencies?

Grab rides and khao soi in baht, software in dollars, rent in euros: the month day by day, income above the line and spending below, in the colour of its item.

A merchant without an item? Sort it once, by tapping or dragging it into the right basin: the choice applies to that merchant’s transactions and becomes a rule for future ones, abroad too. One transaction that’s different? Give it an item of its own, and review or change the rules in the list.

Transactions for September: a bar for each day, income above and spending below, then the list.
Sort mode: Amazon, three transactions, with the suggested items to assign them to.

Use the miles before they vanish.

38,500 Avios, worth about 462 € in flights at an indicative value, expiring in November. Points and miles sit next to your money with what they are worth and when they lapse, so the reminder comes in time to book.

They aren’t cash: they don’t count in your accounts or in what you can spend.

Points and miles on a phone: Avios 38,500 miles about 462 €, expiring in November; RevPoints, Marriott Bonvoy, card cashback.

Day 22Asking Claude

Can I afford Bali in December?

Freeboard works with Claude and ChatGPT through a connector you turn on in Settings. Ask about your month, a trip or a quiet month: the assistant reads the same numbers you see.

Before changing anything it asks, and every change can be undone. You need a Claude or ChatGPT account that supports connectors.

Example conversation, invented data

Can I afford two weeks in Bali in December, about 1,800 €?

Freeboard · overview, cash flow

December already carries the 2,600 € tax advance. Counting only certain income, your lowest point in the next twelve months is 13,589 €, at the end of December.

With Bali the lowest point would drop to 11,789 € at the end of December. You keep 11,467 € as an emergency fund and 1,200 € for the visa, so the trip would dip about 880 € into those reserves, and what you can spend today would go from 921 € to 0.

Shall I add Bali as a one-off December expense? You can undo it.

Yes, add it

Day 28Tax advance ahead

  1. Accounts14,637 €
  2. Tax advanceDecember, one-off−2,600 €

How much do I put aside?

December carries a 2,600 € tax advance. The Cash Flow shows it month by month, so the dip is visible in October, not discovered in December. Freeboard can also keep your tax share of business income out of what you can spend.

In the current month the Cash Flow counts what is still to come from today: −108 € for the rest of October.

Cash Flow on a phone: October −108 € from today to month end, November +1,256 €, December −1,344 € because of the tax advance.

Day 31Closing the month

  2. Month’s net+1,219 €

Is the safety net there?

Six months of expenses set aside, a visa and the move to Lisbon on the way. Each goal is a line under construction: the solid stretch is what you have set aside, the dashed track runs to the date, and Freeboard says whether you are on pace or behind.

Goals on a phone: emergency fund 11,467 € at plan pace; visa and move to Lisbon 4,000 €, 1,200 € set aside, behind.

In your browser, where you spend.

A browser extension brings Freeboard to the pages where money moves. It talks only to your own dashboard and saves nothing without your OK.

Yours alone.

One dashboard, one person: Freeboard is for you, not a shared platform. No ads, no feeds, nothing to post. Your dashboard is hosted by Bytelegion, the studio that makes Freeboard.

Banks are read through Enable Banking with an access you grant and can revoke at any time. Freeboard reads balances and transactions; it can’t move money.

With an AI assistant, what banks and clients wrote in a transaction is treated as data, never as instructions, and nothing changes without your confirmation.

Questions

Is the demo the real app?

Yes. The data aren’t: Alex is invented, and the demo goes back to its example data every night, so feel free to change anything.

Do I have to install anything?

No. Freeboard is hosted by Bytelegion: you open your dashboard in the browser, on your phone or computer, like the demo today.

Which banks does it read?

European banks available through Enable Banking (PSD2); which ones exactly depends on its coverage in your country. Any other account, cash or card can be entered by hand and updated when you like.

Which languages and currencies?

English and Italian. Totals are always in euros; accounts and transactions in other currencies are converted at the European Central Bank reference rate, an estimate of their value in euros.

How much does it cost?

Freeboard is in early access and pricing isn’t set yet. Join the waiting list to hear first; the demo is open to everyone in the meantime.

Does it work with Claude and ChatGPT?

Yes, through a connector you turn on in Settings, with a Claude or ChatGPT account that supports connectors. The assistant reads your numbers and asks before changing anything; every change can be undone.

How do I remove my email from the list?

With the form in the privacy notice: it removes your address straight away. For anything else, write to info@bytelegion.site.
